If you are a frequent ALF follower then you know how much I love this boutique in Norman, OK called Tulips. It's the perfect place for gifts, decor, and also back to school supplies. I don't know about you but the thought of school starting again, makes me kind of cringe. I know it is often said that summer goes by too quickly, but seriously this time around it has! There's so much I want to do before school starts and I know once I get those syllabi, my schedule is going to become a lot more hectic. {Don't worry my blog is a major priority of mine! Plus way more fun to work on than homework...} Anyway to help soften the blow of school approaching, I've put together some of my favorite things that will make going back a little more fun and hopefully less dreadful. Ever since I was a kid, back to school shopping was one of the highlights of my summer. Even though it meant the end of summer, it also meant shiny, new school supplies, new shoes, a new backpack, etc. which really got me excited. I mean I do love to shop! And let's be honest, school supplies still excites me! Tulips has some great options to make school brighter and more colorful with super cute supplies and accessories for your backpack, desk, and those long study days.

My top three things I buy at the start of a new school year are notebooks, a soothing candle for my room, and a water bottle! Why are these my top 3? 1. I still like to write my notes down on paper as opposed to typing on my computer. I'm "old-fashioned" I guess! Might as well pick notebooks with cute covers! 2. New year = new scent! When I sit down to do homework or write a blog post, I love to burn a candle to help relax me and create a soothing atmosphere. Plus it's always a good excuse to buy another candle! 3. I don't know about you, but I wreck my water bottles. I drop them, sometimes lose them, and well let's just say by the end of the year they don't look quite the same. Whether you actually take good care of your bottles or not, it's always nice bringing home a new bottle with a lively colorful print!

Planners are personal. Everyone is different in how they plan and organize. I use my calendar on my phone for scheduling work and events, but my planner is more in depth. I use it for scheduling not only work and events, but meals, workouts, blog posts, school and an abundance of other things. It is my lifeline. Whether you use a planner to map out your life or to just help you remember when your next assignment is due, Tulips has a variety of options with different styles, sizes, and colors!

Supplies are important. Making your desk refreshing and cheerful, but not too distracting is important, but I also believe in keeping your sanity throughout the craziness of the school year. You have got to treat yourself!! As mentioned above, I love to burn candles while I'm studying at home to help soothe me and get me in the zone. Another fantastic way to treat yourself is with a nice, relaxing bath, your favorite candy, and/or keeping positive vibes always around you i.e. motivational posters! See pic below!

These are also great gift ideas for your friend dealing with a difficult class or a "good luck" gift for someone who is about to give a speech or take a challenging test! Treating others is also treating yourself!!

Don't forget paper clips, pens, a To-Do list notepad, tech accessories, and a cute coffee cup!

I use paper clips more often than you think so why not buy some with pom poms or that are in the shape of positive words. Keeping positive things around will actually help destress you without really realizing it!

I'm all about my to do lists! I love having a separate notepad for all that I have to do and then I paperclip the sheet on whatever week it is in my planner. Maybe it's the crazy organized person inside of me, but I also love having a grocery list notepad. You can either buy them with magnets on the back or glue one on yourself so that way you can stick it on your fridge. For me, I write down each item I'm either low on or completely out of throughout the week and then by the time I go shopping again my list has been created!

Like water bottles, I lose my phone charger quite often! There are many options at Tulips to help keep the tech side of you organized this school year.

Whether you drink coffee, tea, matcha, or whatever TREAT yourself to a new mug to start off the school year with. The quote on this mug is extremely relatable. I most definitely need a day between Saturday and Sunday!

Don't forget school spirit! Whether you go to OU or not, it's always good to show off your school pride and one of the best ways to do that is by filling your apartment, dorm, or house with decorations and accessories! I know here in Norman, we have tons of OU and Oklahoma pride. These are great things to have on hand all year round, but especially during football season!!
