The Two-Piece

The Two-Piece

A trend that I'm loving right now, is the two-piece outfit. I know we are heading into fall, but a lot of places are still experiencing extremely warm weather, soooooo it’s definitely okay to keep wearing those crop tops! Plus it’s a trend that’s not going to stop with just summer. Why do I love the two piece? Well let me start with the fact, I didn't like it to begin with. I thought it to be a little too trendy and I wasn’t sure it would last! Oh but it has! I also didn’t think I would look good in a two-piece because most of them are crop tops. Well let me tell you I was right and wrong on this one. I’ve talked about how jumpsuits can be super flattering or look terrible and really it’s all on how they’re made and the structure of the garment. 80-90% of the time it’s not you, but how it’s made, sizing, and the type of material used. They all can affect whether or not you look fabulous in something! So just like the jumpsuit the two-piece was all about finding the right material and fit! I will say the quality is a little higher too, which always helps.

I love high-waisted pants! I think they are extremely flattering on all body types. It shows off your body/curves in a way that enhances and complements them. Also they look fab with crop tops.

So let’s talk about crop tops! They are back in style…the last time they were popular was when Paris Hilton was more famous than Kim KW and she wore her jeans below her hip bones and her top barely came down below her chest. What a throwback am I right? Look up “Paris Hilton Crop Top Early 2000's” and you’ll know exactly what I’m talking about if you haven't had that image pop up in your mind already.

Okay, but now crop tops are made a little more for all body types—not just the Paris Hilton types. With body positivity movement in full swing in the fashion industry I find that clothes are starting to be made for all body types—or at least all body types are being considered. For the longest time I was afraid I wouldn’t look good in a two-piece outfit, but it’s all about finding the right one. For me, a high-waisted bottom and a cropped top is the most flattering look on me. I also feel confident, sexy (without revealing too much), and beautiful in this outfit. I mean, shouldn’t we always feel that way in everything we wear? I know that’s something I look for when shopping and getting dressed for whatever I have that day. This specific crop could have been easily paired with “below the hip bone” pants, but I find the less you show the sexier you are!

Of course this outfit needed some fabulous accessories and if you know me by now my go-to is a fantastic pair of earrings. The statement earrings as I like to call them. However, if earrings aren’t your thing, a choker, cuff or a fun hair piece would also be great accessories to pair with this outfit.

As you go shopping, look for the 2-piece outfit. If it’s outside of your comfort zone, that’s okay, just know there’s nothing wrong with trying it on and seeing if it’s for you. If it isn’t and you don’t feel 100% CONFIDENT YOU, then don’t get it! I love this trend and I think it’s great for all shapes and sizes, but you also have to wear what makes you feel empowered! But don’t be afraid to try a few options on—you never know how it will look.
